Creating A Board Game

I, along with a team of three others were tasked with creating a board game which was based on a pre-existing IP. We settled on Splatoon and set about creating what I believe to be a very fun board game experience. (2023-2024).

Prototype

We created a prototype board and tested varying rules to see what worked best and what our peers enjoyed the most.

Here we agreed that we needed player pieces that resembled the playable characters from the video game (Splatoon). So I used Maya to create two separate models that would be used by the orange and blue teams, we arranged to have these 3D printed at a later date.

Player Feedback

We asked our peers to test and play the prototype board game, below is the data from feedback forms they completed after playing.

Refining the Design

Following the feedback we refined the rules and settled on the final rule set. We then decided it was time to clean up the visuals of the board game to make it more appealing to the player. Below is the final design and completed board game.

And so our board game was completed, and I believe we did a great job, people really seemed to enjoy it and I did too!
